What does a Head of Business Development do at Un-titled Lab?
You will lead the commercial growth engine of Un-titled Lab and Header House by UNL. Your job is to find the right opportunities, win the right projects, and build a repeatable system for doing both. You'll be the senior-most person responsible for new business — from identifying prospects and leading pitches, to negotiating deals and handing projects over cleanly to our Strategy, Creative, and Project Management teams. You'll also build and manage our BD function, starting with coaching a BD Executive and developing the processes, tools, and reporting that make our growth predictable. You report directly to the Managing Director.
Key Responsibilities
Business Strategy & Pipeline Management
- Develop and own the annual BD strategy and quarterly revenue targets in partnership with the MD.
- Monitor markets, categories, and brands (local and regional) to identify opportunities that align with UNL's and Header House's positioning.
- Qualify and prioritise leads based on strategic fit, budget, and long-term potential.
- Maintain a clear, up-to-date sales pipeline and provide accurate revenue forecasts to the MD monthly.
- Develop and refine BD processes, tools, and reporting to ensure visibility over commercial health.
Client Partnership & Consultative Selling
- Lead initial client engagement for high-value prospects — from first meeting through signed contract.
- Act as a strategic consultant to prospective clients, helping them define their business problems before proposing solutions.
- Build trust-based relationships with founders, CMOs, and brand leaders.
- Identify upsell and cross-sell opportunities and coordinate with the Client Service team for execution.
Proposal Development & Pitch Leadership
- Lead the preparation and presentation of compelling proposals, credentials, and case studies.
- Collaborate with Strategy and Creative teams to craft pitches that clearly articulate value and differentiation.
- Negotiate scope, budget, and timelines to ensure projects are commercially viable and sustainable for the agency.
- Develop and maintain a library of reusable pitch materials, case studies, and credentials.
Team Leadership & BD Function Development
- Manage, coach, and develop the BD Executive — setting activity targets, conducting regular reviews, and supporting career growth.
- Build and standardise BD workflows: lead qualification criteria, CRM usage protocols, handover processes, and reporting templates.
- Hire additional BD team members as the business scales.
- Foster a culture of proactive outreach, accountability, and continuous improvement within the BD function.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Translate business and commercial needs into clear internal briefs for Strategy and Creative teams.
- Work with Project Managers to ensure a smooth handover from pitch to project delivery — including complete Business Context documentation.
- Partner with the Head of Client Service to identify expansion opportunities within existing accounts.
- Support the MD in critical client meetings where commercial context and strategic direction are essential.

- Stay updated on industry trends, pricing models, and competitive landscape.
- Contribute to agency thought leadership and visibility (e.g., speaking, content, partnerships).

Qualifications — Must Have
- Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Design, Communications, or related field.
- 5–8 years of experience in Business Development, Account Management, or Commercial roles within a branding, design, creative agency, or consultancy.
- Proven track record of winning new business and growing key accounts.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills in Thai and English.
- Strong understanding of the creative process (Branding/Packaging/CI).
Nice to Have
- Experience in both Agency-side and Client-side roles.
- Experience managing or mentoring a small commercial/sales team.
- Familiarity with CRM tools and sales pipeline management.
- Financial acumen (understanding margins, revenue mix, pricing strategy).
- Existing network within F&B, FMCG, beauty, wellness, or hospitality industries.
